About Rob Jörg: IT Experience, YouTube, and Reinvention After 50
Hi, I’m Rob Jörg. I’m 55, from the Netherlands, and I’ve spent around 30 years working in IT.
Technology has always been a big part of my life. But lately, I’ve found myself asking a different question:
What do I want the next five years of my life to look like?
Why I’m Building Something of My Own
Finding new IT work in 2026 has been much harder than I expected. After decades of building experience, suddenly being on the sidelines has been difficult—financially, professionally, and personally.
But I’m not ready to sit around waiting for something to change.
So I decided to start building something of my own. That’s what robjorg.com and my two YouTube channels are really about: putting my experience to work, learning new skills, and sharing the process.
RobJorgIT: Practical IT Tutorials and Everyday Technology
On my YouTube channel RobJorgIT, I use my IT experience to create straightforward tutorials about:
- Windows and everyday computer problems.
- Software and Microsoft tools.
- AI and practical ways to use it.
- Technology for home users and small businesses.
I like solving problems and explaining technology without making it unnecessarily complicated. Creating these tutorials also keeps my own skills up to date.
My aim is simple: help you understand your technology and get more out of it.
RobJorg: Reinventing Myself in My 50s
On my YouTube channel RobJorg, I share the other side of the story: what it’s like to try to reinvent yourself in your 50s.
I talk about creating YouTube videos, building an online business, money, photography, travel, getting older, and dealing with the setbacks along the way.
This is a personal account of figuring out what comes next, one step at a time.
The 55 → 60 Project: My Next Five Years
I call this journey my 55 → 60 Project.
My goal is to take the experience and skills I already have and see what I can build with them over the next five years.
I don’t have a success story to sell you. I’m still in the middle of it.
Some things will work. Others probably won’t. I’ll share both.
I still want to travel and take more photographs. I want to create useful things and become financially independent again. Most importantly, I don’t want to spend the next five years waiting for life to happen.
Follow My Journey
This website and my YouTube channels are where I’m documenting that journey, while hopefully creating something useful for other people along the way.
I’m ready to learn new things and meet new people. I know I’ll need help along the way, and I welcome ideas, shared experiences, and opportunities to work together.
Whether you’re here for a practical IT tutorial, photography and travel stories, or your own fresh start after 50, welcome.
